Ah, another half-finished Lego Model! This one came to be as a result of my work on the Temeraire Wiki...in that series, the father of main character William Laurence is the (fictional) Earl of Allendale*, who lives at Wollaton Hall; an actual location (it's Wayne Manor in the most recent Batman film). I became quite enamoured with the design for a while, and so this was yet another model based on the general pattern of the floor plans.
As you can see, I'm using a larger scale than my normal "1-2-1-2-1" brick layout...I think this might even predate that! I did originally make everything at a much larger scale so that I could get the windows and doors looking right, but as the designs got more and more complex, my old computer would struggle to load the files and everything would go slowly...plus it was much easier to be creative when you could just add a few Lego poles to create the basic outline of a room.
*Although it's not explained in the series how these fictional Earls came into possession of Wollaton Hall, a bit of research into the history of the building reveals that shortly after it was built, the guy who comissioned it died, and left his heir a massive debt to sort out. Historically, he dealt with it, but if in another world he didn't, it's not hard to imagine him selling it to another noble family.

I suppose the mansion belongs to Laurence's father. He's a rich man though.
