What's this? Another 10 questions meme? I seem to be Mr. Popular all of a sudden...
Anyhoo, let's see what this one leads to!
1. If you could visit one place on Earth, where would it be?
Hmm...that's a real toughie! I mean, in the last few years I've gone to the United Kingdom twice and checked off two fairly important sites on my bucket list - visiting the White Swan Hotel in Alnwick to see the remains of the RMS Olympic, and going to Belfast to see the Titanic Quarter - plus I also went to Disneyland on the way back from my last trip, so I don't know if I have a place that's as must-see at the moment! I suppose...maybe somewhere in Central America, to visit some of the Mayan sites? That being said, I would like to visit Germany and go on a tour around Europe...ooh, wait, that reminds me! Museum Island in Germany, once they reopen the Pergamon Altar exhibit!
...boy, that took a lot of faffing around to get to the actual answer...
2. Favourite film/tv series?
Gaah, I'm no good at these...I'm just going to say The Shawshank Redemption, because I got the music in my head yesterday and went "Darn, I'd forgotten how good that film was!"
3. Why did you join DA?
Funny story; an old friend of mine - - nagged me to join the site for years, and I think my sister even created an account before me, but for the longest time I held off signing up and just lurked in the shadows, saving pictures I liked as (web) favourites...when I was younger the idea of signing up to websites for anything freaked me out for some reason. Eventually what got me to bite the bullet was stumbling across a character called "Garadrobe" - designed by , unsurprisingly - who was the subject of a fancomic written by another artist, and one page halfway through was censored by the mature filter, and at that point in time there wasn't the option to bypass this by entering your DOB, so I had no choice!
...have to say, I don't know why he tagged it as mature; it was because there was blood in the scene, but it was drawn in a super simplistic cartoony style and so this gory scene basically just amounted to the main character being coloured red. Strange that that got censored and not another character slashing his arm and causing it to bleed in the next few panels? But I digress...
4. Which artist inspires you the most?
Welp, I think it goes without saying that a lot of my work has come about from constant collaborating with and ...together we form an Axis of Awesome!
5. Favourite piece of art you've done recently?
Probably this;
6. Which song/piece of music do you ABSOLUTELY hate?
Trust me, you don't want me to answer this question; I have a LOOOOONG list of songs and artists that I hate with a vengeance - it doesn't help that I work in a call centre, and so hear the same terrible songs AGAIN AND AGAIN - and writing it down would lead to a rant longer than any journal I've ever done before.
7. What is the air velocity of an unladen swallow?
I see your Monty Python reference, and I'll raise you one obscure comedy line! "There's nowt wrong wi'out what mitherin' clutterbucks don't barley grummit!"
8. Biggest pet peeve?
Hmm...people who walk really slowly in a crowded place while taking up the whole room. Let me tell you, there have been times where I've been incredibly tempted to buy a motor scooter and add a frigging COW-CATCHER to the front!
9. Favourite art topic (Mountains, people, mythical creatures, etc.)?
Alternate history, as should be clear from the map above!
10. Introvert/Ambivert/Extrovert?
Uhh...<pauses to look up exact definitions>
...I guess Ambivert? I used to be quite introverted and then out of nowhere I suddenly gained a social life and several separate groups of like-minded friends, so I kind of walk the line between the two extremes...
As for the ten questions and ten tags...well, I'm actually needing to leave now in order to get to a party - how fitting, given the last question - so I'll just tag and five times each and let them do these questions themselves.
Ciao!

Fallout - Review
...ugh, god damn it. Okay, let's get something important out of the way. The Vault sets and the costumes and props for this series? Spectacular stuff; they've captured the look of the games almost perfectly. Everything ELSE, though? A huge disappointment, and I'm baffled by the number of reviews out there gushing about how amazing the series is (the Guardian gave it FIVE STARS, for pete's sake). All I can assume is that people were so gobsmacked by the visuals that they didn't pay too much attention to everything else, or they let the character and story issues slide because it's a 'video game' story and expecting anything better would be too much from one of THOSE uncultured things, fnar fnar. Anyway, I was going to write up some huge plot breakdown and try to condense the summaries I sent to some friends already, but I can't be assed. Is anybody even reading these journals anymore? In short, the story sucks (both the overall set of events and the way it's broken up), the world
Umbar and the Rings of Power
Hrm, how to begin this one…so just recently I was reminded that Rings of Power existed and that a second season was apparently on the way. I hadn’t bothered to watch the original season as it looked like it was going to be a disappointing mess for a number of reasons (and the post-release discourse confirmed that for me), but the reminder inspired me to look over the source material, and a few wiki binges later…well, I ended up with an idea for an original story that would bridge a gap in the timeline and allow for a diverse cast of characters while exploring some interesting themes… Some context will be needed for this to all make sense, so I’ll start by briefly (hah!) summarising the events that Rings of Power was adapting…loosely. The story properly begins about 1,200 years after the defeat of Sauron’s boss Morgoth, at which point Middle Earth is dominated by Elven realms and a few minor kingdoms of Men, with the only one of note being Numenor; an island paradise that was created
Assassin's Creed: Mirage - Review
Well, here's something I've not been able to do in a while...actually recommend an Assassin's Creed game! I mean, it's not a 'rush out and buy this right now' game (unless you're an old fan of the series), but it's a good return to form after the last few games, and I sort of see it as a proof of concept for what a larger game in the series could be. That's also not to say it's perfect; there are a lot of minor quibbles throughout (story's a bit weak at times, combat's a bit clunky at times, map feels a bit empty at times, etc), but looking back after finishing it, I don't think it deserves a critical savaging and would say it belongs somewhere near the high end of my rating scale, falling somewhere between 'had some really good ideas but was held back by something big going wrong' (this includes ACI, Liberation and Rogue) and 'overall good but with some issues' (this includes the entire Ezio Trilogy, ACIV, and Origins). Alrighty, let's get into it; Assassin's Creed Mirage feels like
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny - Review
So remember how last week I posted about how Elemental was a film that I thought was okay while my friends disliked it, and also that it was full of ideas and setups that didn't go anywhere? Well, that also applies for this Indiana Jones sequel, except this time I was the one who disliked it while my friends thought it was okay. In the end, I walked away from the film finding myself wanting to revisit the older films, especially Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which, while flawed, was never as bad as people said it was, and as such I'm curious to compare the two (especially since Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was kind of Patient 0 for the whole nostalgic rebooting of old franchises that should have stayed finished). Our story opens with an extended flashback sequence set during the closing stages of World War II, which also happens to be the best part of the film. Indy and Dobby (no, really, that's his actor) are captured while infiltrating a Nazi base to recover the 'Spear of Longinus'.
